If you had the chance to save somebody’s life, would you?
Most of you may think this question is a no-brainer, but how often do you text or scroll on social media behind the wheel?
Using smartphones while driving is killing our people– our parents, children, best friends, cousins, and teachers.
Focusing on your phone diverts attention from pedestrians, other vehicles on the road, and significantly reduces your response time in an emergency. This is a problem that is plaguing America, but what makes our country different from the rest of the world?
Americans have chosen to accept a vehicle death rate three, four, and five times higher than other countries. In a society that emphasizes immediate gratification and professional success, American drivers seem to be addicted to their phones in ways that drivers elsewhere are not.
Smartphones aren’t the only factor to blame. Marijuana and inadequate presence of sidewalks have created an alarming spike in pedestrian accidents, motor vehicle accidents, and deaths across our country.
